Already the end of the year! And what a year!

At the Christmas party that gathered both Swiss and Italian teams in Santhià, Italy, Luciano Benassi, Sosoftware’s CEO, put an emphasize on some key elements and achievements in 2011:

First of all, he stressed that what we are building together, at Sosoftware, is that  ”we are changing the way companies are using mobile phones. Thanks to all of us, businesses improve internal processes and become more efficient. ”

He then went on:

“We can be very proud of where we are now and (but) we still have a lot of of work in front of us for the next coming years!

In other words, thanks to all of you:

- Business Mobile Telephony Management” is not a concept anymore, but a reality today , and

- the i-Phone is now fully supported.

We achieved Sosoftware’s product strategy, which is to overcome the market fragmentation, with  a product:

Operator-free

Infrastructure-free

Mobile free,

that allows companies to protect thei existing investment: they can now chose the better phone, operator and/or voice infrastructure AND use Solo!

All this being possible thanks to all of US!”

Unfortunately, not everybody could be present, but they were present with us in thoughts.

It was then a natural move to present Solo in tight conjunction with Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, offering Alcatel-Lucent’s customers and partners communication solutions integrating the mobilty at the highest degree.

As already mentioned, the event took place in a prestigious place, The Museum of Science and Technology in the historical center of Milano.

How many of you were waiting for the iPhone application? We know, many, many!

And we are very happy to announce that a beta version is currently being tested in our labs and by a couple of happy few.

It has been highly challenging, since Apple’s conditions are pretty restrictive, but our talented engineers have managed to develop a very good application :-)

Many organizations were waiting for the iPhone application to deploy Solo or deploy on large scale projects, it is a big step forward for us, our partners and our customers.

We know that you would like to test it, but.. we ask for a bit more patience, you’ll be notified as soon as it is available.

The Galaxy Tab has been choosen, among other reasons, for it allows professional management and control of the mobile device. The global project aims at achieving “more productivity and efficiency”.
For those of you interested in more technical aspects, the hardware part of the Solution (Sobox) has been totally virtualized on a VMWare server in the corporate’s cloud.
The project has been led conjunctly with our Swiss Partners at T&N, Crissier.
We’ll come back to you with more detailed info (official press release and case study).

Les Galaxy Tabs ont notamment été choisis pour leur capacité à être gérés et contrôlés dans un contexte d’entreprise. Le projet dans son ensemble visant à atteindre plus de “productivité et d’efficience”.
Pour ceux que l’aspect technique intéresse, la partie hardware de Solo (Sobox) a été complètement virtualisée sur un serveur VMWare dans le cloud de l’entreprise.

Le projet a été mené en collaboration avec nos partenaires Suisses chez T&N, Crissier.

Solo is compatible with any PBX.
For Avaya Partners and customers, Solo can be used as a client (DTMF), as shown here for a basic fixed-mobile convergence solution.

Or, by adding the Sobox and an enriched client, in addition to the benefits of just using the Solo client, it will allow large scale deployments and management and Data, SMS/MMS control, as evidenced here, for a “managed FMC integration” .

In March, Sosoftware Italy has completed the first training sessions, technical and commercial, for Italian Distributors and Partners.
The sessions fostered enlightening exchanges among participants, about the future and Italian market, for instance, gave technical knowledge to best address the market and serve customers needs. An incentive commercial program has also been presented.

The participants were very statisfied and a couple of them shared enthusiastic feed-back, as one can see below (in Italian).

Q: What is, in a few words, the general strategy of Sosoftware?
A: For about 2 years, Sosoftware has been strongly committed in developing a solution overcoming 3 sources of fragmentation in the mobile business industry:
- carriers
- mobile phones (OS platforms)
- infrastructures vendors (mainly PBX).
The objective was to achieve a solution 100% “operator free”, “mobile free”, “PBX free”, as we name it.

Except for a small number of mobile devices (in development), we are very proud to announce that we offer the only solution worldwide able to remotely deploy & manage mobile phones fleets, without having to change anything in the existing infrastructure, nor to change operator. With the additional and nonetheless appreciated benefit of mobile costs reductions.
Our strategy for 2011 is to consolidate this unification. We are now able to address both the corporate market and the SMB market.
Our objective is also to develop the missing mobile clients to cover nearly 100% of the market needs. Once the consolidation achieved, we plan to develop specific solutions for vertical markets.

Q. Can you give us more details about the unicity that you mentioned before?
A. Simply put, it’s the only solution that you can install in a company without training, without having to change anything in the existing infrastructure, that always uses the least cost route in a transparent mode, switches automatically to the roaming mode when you travel abroad, gives control tools over the mobile phones fleet. And that works in any situation. With Solo, you gain back freedom of choice and you take control.
The real innovation and unicity of Solo Mobile Solution lies in the ability to unify those 3 fragmented worlds (mobile OS platforms, mobile carriers, infrastructures-PBX vendors). Without this unification, companies face multiple problems such as: anarchical and sometimes explosive costs linked to mobile phones, no control over mobile phones usage, lack of transparence, no centralized management of mobile phones fleets, etc.. Solo resolves these problems and leverages existing investments in infrastructures.

Q. What about the iPhone? Does Solo Mobile support the iPhone?
A. The demand for iPhones is growing, eventhough it is not conceived as a corporate tool. Of course, it is planned for 2011 :-)! We plan its release End of March.

Q. A word about your growing strategy for 2011?
A. In 2010, we developed a network of more than 120 partners in more than 25 countries. Our objective is to strengthen those partnerships to grow with our partners.

Q. The final word?
A. I want to stress the extraordinary efforts made both in the fields of products and commercial development by our team, in Italy and Switzerland: a special thank you to all the team! And let’s continue to build our future, to make it easy!

If the full Solo Solution, including the Sobox, is now so steady and ready to go mainstream, it’s mainly thanks to this customer’s steady engagement: they supported us for a long time, convinced by Solo’s unique features, after a thorough worldwide market’s study. They tested the software in many different situations, reporting bugs, asking for specific features and suggesting improvements. Before the final deployment, we can already say it was an enriching human adventure and collaboration.
